Part C - Medicare Advantage Plans
Medicare Advantage Plans are plans offered through health plan carriers such as: Aetna, Anthem, United Healthcare, Empire and Humana. These carriers receive funding through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to give you Medicare benefits. Some carriers offer value added benefits which may include gym memberships, vision, dental and hearing aid discounts and worldwide emergency coverage.
Medicare Advantage plans have low premiums which include prescription coverage (Part D). There are plans that do not have prescription coverage because some individuals receive this benefit through the Veterans Administration, as a Union or employer retiree benefit. These plans can be a health maintenance organization, a preferred provider organization or a point of service plan.
